A team from the University of Sydney has won the fourth annual National Intervarsity Women’s Moot. Alice Zhou, Sarah Ienna and India O'Neill won the grand final, held at the Supreme Court of New South Wales last month before Court of Appeal President Justice Margaret Beazley, Dr David Rolph, the author of the problem question, and a partner from Baker & McKenzie.
Alice Zhou won the award for best speaker.
Ten teams from universities across Australia competed in this year’s tournament. The 2014 competition question focused on a defamation issue.
The competition, which is the only national moot in which all competitors must be female, was established in 2011 and aims to address the equity issues facing women at the bar.
