UQ and UWA Heading to Jessup International Moot

Blue suit and tie

The University of Queensland and the University of Western Australia faced off in the grand final of the Australian round of the Jessup International Moot in Canberra last week.

After surviving six rounds of competition, UQ’s team defeated UWA to take out the national rounds. Both teams will now represent Australia at the international rounds in Washington D.C. in April.

Now in its 55th year, the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the world’s largest mooting competition, attracting teams from more than eighty nations. The moot problem is a dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice.

Last year the University of Sydney, the University of Western Australia, Murdoch University and the University of New South Wales represented Australia in the international rounds.
