Welcome to the first edition of Lawroscopes.
Libra (September 23 - October 23)
Jupiter is in Libra’s sixth house this month, meaning that you’re likely to encounter some obstacle, whether in your love life, finances or career. Time spent nurturing relationships in these aspects, whether it be sitting next to that person you’ve had your eye on in the lecture, discussing law ball preparation expenditures with friends, may mean that you win these obstacles instead of letting them win you!
Scorpio (October 23 - November 22)
If you’re creatively inclined, today you might have grand visions in your head whilst daydreaming in your 9am criminal law tutorial. Whatever the grand vision, when it strikes, write it down and get started on these projects, otherwise they’ll be out of reach. Hint: if you’re dreaming about an HD, start that assignment now!
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 22)
This month could start off tense. What once seemed manageable may start to overwhelm you. Birthdays that are compulsory to attend, assignment after assignment, tutorial participation, keeping up with lectures and family commitments all threaten to overtake you. Be careful and don’t feel too overwhelmed - be patient with yourself, but also communicate your concerns to others.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 20)
You may feel like you need to constantly be helping others, Capricorn. Mercury is in retrograde and people are out to get you - stay cautious and vigilant, and don’t give into your Good Samaritan intuitions this month. Law school will be a minefield of egos this month, as people battle over one another during mid-sems and job interviews.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
Your boyfriend may have just won the lottery and that person in your class may have just escaped the 70% class attendance requirement because your tutor never marks the roll. Don’t be dissuaded by these people and don’t undo your hard work. As Louis Pasteur once said, “Luck favours the prepared mind.”
Pisces (February 18 - March 20)
Pisceans are at heart, friendly, dreamy, compassionate and full of imagination. However you can also be quite introspective at times. This month, take the time to notice how those around you are doing and lend them your ear - that friend who’s ditched lecture after lecture or that friend who keeps leaving you on ‘seen’ when you ask them whether they are coming to class may just need your understanding.
Aries (March 20 - April 20)
An asteroid is projected to enter Mars’ orbit. In much the same way, this month someone in the Law School has it out for you. Rumours, sabotage and betrayal threaten to throw you off your path to success. Remain vigilant, Aries!
Taurus (April 20 - May 21)
As a Taurus, you indulge in the luxuries of life - but don’t relax too much lest you become complacent with your studies! It’s in your nature to be generous, and as such, you tend to offer your lecture notes to those in need. But bullishly headstrong as you are, you won’t let anyone take advantage of you. Avoid the liars and the dirty, dirty cheats in the world.
Gemini (May 21 - June 21)
You’re an intellectual as well as a conversationalist. “Variety is the spice of life” - so you tend to flutter around different environments in pursuit of diverse types of knowledge, you social butterfly, you! But don’t be that person who chinwags too much at the back of the lecture theatre. If you exercise self-discipline once in a while, who knows how many cases you could read? The possibilities are endless.
Cancer (June 21 - July 23)
A Cancerian law student is moody and tends to reflect the personalities around them, sometimes at the expense of their own individuality! You may have the tendency to cling onto past experiences, allowing them to unnecessarily colour the present. So, if you’ve given up on a subject because you fear skipping the first 6 lectures will be fatal to your mark, liberate yourself from the past and focus on the now.
Leo (July 23 - August 23)
No doubt Leo law students are as proud as they are smart. Your challenge is to tone down your (at time subconscious) egotism and show humility and compassion to others. People often gravitate towards you, so use that attention to spread positivity! We all know law school is a hard place; you have the potential to make a difference.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos are very fond of detail! Not only are you incredibly precise in recording the ratio of a case, but you make sure that it adheres to your style guide - italicised headings; roman numeral bullet points; and lime-green font for facts. But sometimes success is in the bigger picture. Remain attentive to finer points of law, but don’t neglect scaffolds and mind maps that bring topics together!
