Survive Law has taken the liberty of interpreting the stars so you don’t have to. Read our March edition of 2019 Lawroscopes and find out your legal destiny! Missed last month’s divinations? Catch up on February here.

Pisces (February 18 - March 20)

Pisces, pisces, pisces. Well, well, well. We’re 3 weeks into the semester and you still haven’t attended a single lecture. I know you’re still nursing that Mardi Gras hangover but it’s time to put the glitter away and whip the books out.

Aries (March 20 - April 20)

It may seem tempting to go with the easy, cruisy subject that allows you to do all your life admin during class but I challenge you to choose the harder subject. Whilst you may have to put in more work, you’ll benefit in the long run (shoutout to tax law!).

Taurus (April 20 - May 21)

You tend to just slip into class and sit in the back row if you’re surrounded by unfamiliar faces in class. Make it a point this month to start a conversation with that person next to you and broaden your friendship group. Bonus: you have someone to share notes with and most importantly, someone to mark your name off the roll when you skip a class!

Gemini (May 21 - June 21)

You swore that the next time you had to do group work, you’d rather be in a group with yourself. But even though there’s a 50% group work assignment on the line this semester, embracing the group is better than alienating yourself

Cancer (June 21 - July 23)

You know how you used to roll your eyes every time the lecturer told the class to read the instructions for the assignment/exam carefully? Well, don’t. Be cautious this month about skimming over and assuming that because you’re three years deep into law school, you basically know the drill. When the instructions say critically evaluate, you need to critically evaluate - don’t just regurgitate what your sources say, you need to say whether you agree with them or not.

Leo (July 23 - August 23)

This semester is going to BUSY. Spend this time while things are still calm to prepare yourself for the semester ahead so you don’t find yourself crying in the law school bathrooms because it’s week 5 and you still don’t know how to calculate the capital gains tax payable. Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

Virgos, this month you need to practice a bit of self love. While you’re prone to getting caught up in things, this can be both an advantage and disadvantage to you. We know that once you start an assignment, you’re consumed by it, battling day in and day out to finish it - but remember: exercise, eat and breathe.

Libra (September 23 - October 23)

March is a month of madness. You may find that this month you’re second guessing yourself a lot more - but don’t. Always remember this: You is kind. You is smart. You is important. (Thanks, The Help!). Do not doubt yourself.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 22)

Look, we’re just going to get straight to the point - don’t be stubborn. Open yourself up to new ideas, even when you’re so set on your own way of thinking. Be receptive of ideas being thrown around about sterilisation procedures in medical law. Even if you want to scream at that person who is clearly wrong, they are entitled to their wrong opinion.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 22)

The unit of study outlines distributed at the start of the semester is crucial. Read it cover to cover, carefully and note down when all your assessments are due and when mid-sem exams are, which assessments are optional and which are compulsory, and what the attendance requirement is. You can get carried away being a social butterfly, so plug all those deadlines into your calendar app.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 20)

New academic year means that it’s time to revitalise your study space. That pile of printouts of lecture slides that you’ve accrued over the years? It’s time to go. If you need some inspiration, then check out these #studygrams.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

You promised yourself that this year you’ll make an effort to attend more networking events to meet more people in the industry and get some practice in for those clerkship networking events. Word of advice? Avoid oversharing at networking events - it’s still a professional space.
