Last-Minute Christmas Gift Ideas for Law Students

Mouse and Christmas tree decoration

This one is for the benefit of our parents, grandparents, siblings and significant others. If you have not done your Christmas gift buying for the law student in your life, here are some great last-minute ideas.

This Christmas, give the gift of:

1. Kirby J

Michael Kirby’s new autobiography, A Private Life, is high on a law student’s summer reading list.

2. Stationery

Nothing makes a law student happier than stationery. However, we can be a bit picky when it come to pens and the like, so if you’re unsure, perhaps just get us a gift card for Officeworks. Alternatively, a moleskine notebook will never go unloved.

3. Escapism

Want to go all out? Why not a holiday? We all need one. A voucher for two nights accommodation in Canberra will suffice… that way we can go and check out the High Court.

Crownies Season One box set DVD. We know some of you are underground Crownies lovers!

A magazine subscription. Sometimes we just want to read something that is not going to be examined. Spoil your student with their favourite magazine being delivered to their door. The best bit is you can organise it online and you don’t need to do any gift-wrapping.

4. Fashion

Law student fashion accessories. Pearls for the girls, cuff links or ties for the boys. I always wear my pearls with my suit (even if it is only for a moot) as they make me feel refined. These luxurious goods are not often in our budgets, and who wants to borrow a tie from Uncle Ed?

Or maybe a business card holder? Even if I don’t have business cards yet, I figure it will still be useful one day.

5. Liquid Motivation

A coffee machine. Save your law student the hassle of lining up at the campus café each morning. Don’t forget the beans!

6. Technology

Nearly every law student has some form of Apple product, be it a MacBook, iPad, iPhone or iPod. So an iTunes voucher or accessories for the beloved technology will be much appreciated.
